News of Osanju’s death shocked fans across Ghana and the wider TikTok community. Known for his humor and creative skits, he had built a loyal following by capturing the struggles and joys of everyday Ghanaian life. His passing sparked widespread speculation as details about his sudden illness remained unclear in the days immediately following his death.
Final Moments: According to earlier reports, Osanju became critically ill at his home before being rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital. Doctors quickly placed him on oxygen in an attempt to stabilize him, but his condition continued to deteriorate. Medical staff then arranged for his transfer to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, a major referral center in Ghana.
Unfortunately, shortly after arriving at KATH, doctors pronounced him dead. At that point, his exact cause of death remained uncertain, and his family requested a post-mortem examination to bring clarity.
Autopsy Results: In a video shared on the TikTok page of Sabina Safo, Osanju’s uncle and head of the family addressed the public directly. He explained that doctors had confirmed leukaemia as the cause of death, describing it as the illness his nephew had been silently battling for several years.
“The doctor conducted the post-mortem and told us that he died from the illness he had been battling for the past few years, which is blood cancer, or leukaemia,” the uncle said. He added that medical staff also noted complications with Osanju’s treatment. “The doctor told us that after taking his medicine, he was supposed to vomit some blood. But he did not, so that appeared to have affected his chances of recovery.”
This confirmation put to rest much of the speculation circulating online and gave fans a clearer understanding of the health challenges the late TikToker had faced.
Understanding Leukaemia: Leukaemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow, often resulting in the production of abnormal white blood cells that interfere with the body’s ability to fight infections. Symptoms may include fatigue, frequent infections, unexplained bleeding, and weight loss. Treatment can be long and difficult, involving chemotherapy, radiation, or bone marrow transplants.
In Ghana, limited access to advanced treatment options often makes such illnesses even harder to manage, leading to tragic outcomes like Osanju’s.
Remembering Osanju: While the revelation of his illness has been painful, fans continue to celebrate Osanju for the laughter and joy he brought into their lives. His videos, which captured relatable everyday moments with wit and creativity, continue to circulate online as a testament to his talent.
For his family, friends, and followers, the news of his passing is a reminder of both life’s fragility and the importance of raising awareness about serious health conditions such as leukaemia. Though gone too soon, Osanju’s legacy lives on through the happiness he shared with thousands across Ghana and beyond.
